Changing the course of this website

Changing the course of this website

I haven’t had a sale in quite some time and I am ok with that.  At first, I was quite upset and disappointed, but then I realized that my life is shifting in another direction.  We often go through ebbs and flows in life depending on all sorts of factors.  People have changes to their careers, relationships, health, families, and a myriad of other reasons that pull your life left-right-up-down.  This time, rather than be hurt at the lack of sales, I’m looking at it as God has helped me shift into my role as an author.

Since graduating with my MFA, I have been hyper focused on my writing and getting my work published.  I spent three years working on my latest project, and have been editing and formatting my book for the past few months.  I am excited to report that I am at the finish line and submitted my book, Call Her Woman and Bend the Knee to print. I will be posting about the pre-sales hopefully in the next week or so.  I have also been pushing to get my words seen and heard by performing more.  One of my goals has been to perform at McDonald’s Gospelfest, and this April that dream came true!  I performed my poem, “So Black””, on the Union County Performing Arts Center stage.  This was a very proud moment for me and I was happy that my husband and son were present to celebrate this accomplishment with me.

I say all of this to say, that I am shifting the nature of this website to be more author-focused.  A place to share my craft, offer encouragement and inspiration to fellow writers, and hopefully build a community.

Keep your eyes open for the relaunch of the site.  I will still be selling a few writer inspired products as merchandise, too!

Thank you for your continued support and for your encouragement over the years!!  You are appreciated!!
